BuDa Folklore is bringing back the Kokum Harvest Festival in the pristine forest farm of Angadibail in Ankola (coastal Karnataka) once again!  A beautiful experiential learning and farm-stay, to harvest and process Kokum – a forest tree species endemic to the Western Ghats and is used both for culinary and medicinal purposes in myriad ways.

We are inviting you to join us  for the complete journey of Kokum, from Tree to Jar, from May 1st to May 7th. We’ll gather at the Angadibail forest house to experience harvesting, drying, preservation and kokum inspired recipes.

We’ll even try our hand making kokum butter using traditional methods.

We’ll also fill the weekend with music,folk dance, folk games, learning local crafts from forest artisans

.Please get your own bottle/jar to take home kokum preserves.

  • ​ ​Stay –We try and practice a sustainable living model and therefore prefer not use any detergent and chemical soaps for washing and bathing. We provide our biodegradable  tooth powder and body wash powder  during your stay here.Our forest farm house at Angadibail is not powered by electricity and is mostly outside mobile coverage area. The  forest house has a lofted area or a covered porch  to camp out on
  • Getting There – coordinated pick up at Gokarna cross/Madangeri Cross
  • How to reach Gokarna-
  • By Bus​:​There are privete buses as well as government buses to Gokarna ​ if you are coming from Bngalore
  • By Train:​Take a train ( konkan railway)to Gokarna. if you are coming from Mumbai /Goa /Mangalore
  • By Flight::​ Nearest airport is Mangalore & Goa.From there you can take a ​ local​  train to Gokarna

  • What to bring –  bottle/jar  to take home  kokum preserves, summer clothes, water bottle, torch, 2 bed sheets, toilet kit, and if you play music bring instruments!
  • Fees :
  • For ​weekends – Rs ​3000 per participant   includes food, stay and local transport(not including journey to Gokarna)
  • For families Rs 2000 per participant  for weekends
  • For weekdays​- ​Rs ​2000 for 2days ​per participant
  • ​For families 1500 per participant for 2days

 

Please note that  on weekdays no pick up will be arranged however we will help you to guide on public transport /taxi pool arrangements .

​If you want to stay more than 2 days ​you are welcome by paying  Rs  750 per day
